Creating is hard and getting harder
As I get older I always feel the need to create a new blog post. If you want a regular update on my life you can visit my insta. It's the same as my website. I am now 35 years old and if there is one thing you can count on, its me writing something new on or new near my birthday.
I started creating vlog posts and have been busy doing admin work but most of my time has been held up with enjoying myself and hanging out with my partner. Lately- I've been very interested in playing video games and it has been a pleasure to do so. If you don't know, I play 'Fortnite' and in this most recent iteration its actually a previous iteration called "remix" which basically means it's a previous version of the game I enjoy playing and this season is the same season I started playing. When I got into this game it was Season 2 Chapter 2- Remix is going back to that. This means that the game has basically reverted to that time back during the start of the Pandemic and I started playing the game- every season the game and it's mechanics change. From movement, items, weapons and locations the "map" and "gameplay" progress. When I started playing the learning curb was very high but once I learned to play I enjoyed myself- the game also changed again with the physics of it. Before the game had "building" mechanics, I would get frustrated when someone superior to me would eliminate me by building a massive base and get the advantage of me by circumventing my strategies.
This season I came back to remix and had the advantage of 'no builds' which showed me how good I became. I'm constantly in a lobby with ONE better player and I am okay with that, especially since my kill/death ratio went from up dramatically.
This all means nothing to a lot of people but to me, it just means I can see my improvement and I am very pleased with it. I don't spend as much time as I could on it, I don't try to improve but that's okay I am not serious about my want to play this game and think that the amount I play is a very healthy compared to a lot of people.
This was also the time when I started streaming- I used to play video games and broadcast from my bedroom as 'wantedsquid' which is my xbox username. Now I am able to play video games and stream as separate things and back then I wanted to make a feature film out those two things. Now I am making steps to brining that to reality.
I've started creating a story called 'The Cree/mer" short for the Cree gamer & streamer about a guy named Gage. As Gage finds it increasingly hard to be a student and part-time barista he tries to be a good grandson to his papa and friend in his support system. Before the pandemic happened Gage left his home community to pursue a better life for himself as he attends school in Toronto. In secret and anonymity Gage becomes CageTotem in the dark of his room and the light of his screen.
This concept was in development for almost 5 years and now that I am back in the filmmaking game I am excited to make this my first directing gig for a feature film.
Along with a short doc for the Winnipeg film group, my producing gig, starring in a feature film and two upcoming project I've applied for funding for I am very busy for the next couple years at least.
Anyway it's my annual update- there is lot I always forget to update on but at the moment that is what I am doing.
Ekosi,
